Hobart “Junior” Sanders, 77, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 2:55 p.m. Monday, January 30, 2012, at his residence.  Born in Oblong, Illinois on September 8, 1934, he was the son of Allen Sanders and Nettie Ellen (Weck) Sanders.  He served in the U. S. Army.  He was married to Trudy Birch from 1960 – 1973.  He was employed with Briggs Pottery in Robinson, Illinois retiring after 42 years; owner of Sanders Furniture Store in Oblong.  Junior attended the Oblong Wesleyan Church.  He was a former Past Master of the Oblong Masonic Lodge #644 AF & AM and the Oblong American Legion Post #219.  He enjoyed horse racing.

Junior is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry & Bonnie Sanders and Randy Sanders; a daughter, Tonia Holubek; six grandchildren, Thomas Holubek, Ryan Holubek, Tiffany & Jacob Griffin, Erica & Adam Herr, Summer Sanders and Sierra Sanders; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, David Sanders; a sister, Jo Carter; two sisters-in-law, Elzora Sanders and Darlene Sanders; several nieces & nephews; companion Betty Masters.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers & sisters, Ralph Musgrave, Marie Ikemire, Ethel Lyons, Dorothy Hursey, Floyd Sanders, Paul Max Sanders, Carl Sanders, Louise Higginbothem, Kate Murphy, Ruth Bruner, Margaret Shaffer and three infant siblings.

Rev. Leonard Waller will officiate the memorial service.  It was Junior’s wish to be cremated, burial of his cremated remains will be held at a later date in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
